Description
O holotipo de Raja iberica está depositado na colecção zoológica do Museu Nacional de História Natural e da Ciência, com o número MB06-004869. Este espécime foi capturado ao largo da costa algarvia, Portugal, entre os 558m e os 531m de profundidade, a bordo da embarcação comercial de arrasto de crustáceos 'Porto Amboim', em 2006. Raja iberica foi descrita em 2008 por MFW Stehmann, B Séret, EM Costa e J Baro. Esta espécie é endémica da Peninsula Ibérica, ocorrendo no Golfo de Cádiz, entre os 270m e os 670m de profundidade em substrato de grão fino. (Descrição original em Cybium 2008, 32(1): 51-71)
The holoptype of Raja iberica is deposited in the zoological collection of the Museu Nacional de História Natural e da Ciência, under the number MB06-004869. This specimen was collected at the Algarve coast (Portugal) at 558-531m depth, on board of the chartered commercial shrimp trawler 'Porto Amboim'. Raja iberica was described in 2008 by MFW Stehmann, B Séret, EM Costa and J Baro. This species is endemic to the Iberian Peninsula, occurring in the Gulf of Cádiz at 270-670 m depth, in fine-grained bottom substrates. (Original description in Cybium 2008, 32(1): 51-71).
