Espécime naturalizado da espécie Recurvirostra avosetta (Alfaiate) pertencente à Coleção de Aves (MB02-0002194) do Museu Nacional de História Natural e da Ciência. Ocorre maioritariamente em estuários e salinas. No inverno Portugal acolhe uma percentagem importante da população europeia, mas enquanto reprodutora, esta espécie ocorre em pequenos números, quase exclusivamente no sotavento algarvio.

Naturalized specimen from the species Recurvirostra avosetta (Pied Avocet) belonging to the Birds Collection (MB02-0002194) of the Museu Nacional de História Natural e da Ciência. It is found mainly in estuaries and associated saltpans. An important proportion of the European population winters in Portugal. Nonetheless, the species is scarce during the breeding season, and almost confined to the Mediterranean coast of Algarve.
