Possui representantes de 190 famílias de peixes marinhos, migradores e de água doce, provenientes de Portugal e de outros países da Europa, Ásia, América e África, em particular dos países africanos de expressão portuguesa. Inclui uma importante representação da fauna dulciaquícola ibérica, possuindo exemplares de todas as espécies existentes em Portugal.
The Fish Collection of MUHNAC was initiated in 1984, comprising over 75.000 specimens. It incorporates representatives from 190 families, including marine, freshwater and anadromous fish collected in Portugal and in other countries from Europe, Asia, America, and Africa, in particular in Portuguese-speaking African countries. The Iberian freshwater fauna is particularly well represented, since it holds specimens from every species that occur in Portugal.

O holotipo de <i>Lampetra auremensis </i>está depositado na colecção zoológica do Museu Nacional de História Natural e da Ciência, com o número MB05-002869. Este adulto imaturo foi colectado na Ribeira do Olival, Bacia do Tejo, em Caxarias, Ourém, Portugal, em 2012. Esta espécie foi descrita em 2013 por CS Mateus, MJ Alves, B Quintella e PR Almeida. Esta espécie é endémica de Portugal, ocorrendo apenasno Rio Nabão, um afluente da margem direita do Rio Tejo. O seu epíteto específico refere-se à área onde ocorre, a região de Ourém, que no século XII tinha o nome de Aurem. (Descrição original em Contributions to Zoology 2013, 82: 37-53).
The holoptype of <i>Lampetra auremensis </i>is deposited in the zoological collection of the Museu Nacional de História Natural e da Ciência, under the number MB05-002869. This immature adult was collected in the Olival River, Tagus Basin, in Caxarias, Ourém, Portugal in 2009. This species was described in 2013 by CS Mateus, MJ Alves, B Quintella and PR Almeida. This species is endemic to Portugal, inhabiting the river Nabão, a tributary of the right bank of the tagus river basin. The specific epithet refers to the area where the species occur, in the region of Ourém, inspired in the name of the region in the XII century, Aurem. (Original description in Contributions to Zoology 2013, 82: 37-53).

An account of the resource
O holotipo de <i>Lampetra alavariensis </i>está depositado na colecção zoológica do Museu Nacional de História Natural e da Ciência, com o número MB05-002866. Este adulto imaturo foi colectado na Ribeira de Mangas, Bacia de Esmoriz, em Carvalheira de Maceda, Ovar, Portugal, em 2009. O seu epíteto específico refere-se ao distrito onde ocorre, Aveiro, que em latim tinha o nome de Alavarium. Esta espécie foi descrita em 2013 por CS Mateus, MJ Alves, B Quintella e PR Almeida. Esta espécie é endémica de Portugal, ocorrendo apenas na Bacia de Esmoriz e na Bacia do Rio Águeda (Descrição original em Contributions to Zoology 2013, 82: 37-53).
The holoptype of <i>Lampetra alavariensis </i>is deposited in the zoological collection of the Museu Nacional de História Natural e da Ciência, under the number MB05-002866. This immature adult was collected in the Mangas River, Esmoriz Basin, Portugal in 2009. This species is endemic to Portugal, occurring in the Esmoriz and Águeda Basins. The specific epithet refers to the Portuguese district where this species occurs, Aveiro (Alavarium in Latin). This species was described in 2013 by CS Mateus, MJ Alves, B Quintella and PR Almeida. (Original description in Contributions to Zoology 2013, 82: 37-53).

The Fish Collection of MUHNAC was initiated in 1984, comprising over 75.000 specimens. It incorporates representatives from 190 families, including marine, freshwater and anadromous fish collected in Portugal and in other countries from Europe, Asia, America, and Africa, in particular in Portuguese-speaking African countries. The Iberian freshwater fauna is particularly well represented, since it holds specimens from every species that occur in Portugal.

The Fish Collection of MUHNAC was initiated in 1984, comprising over 75.000 specimens. It incorporates representatives from 190 families, including marine, freshwater and anadromous fish collected in Portugal and in other countries from Europe, Asia, America, and Africa, in particular in Portuguese-speaking African countries. The Iberian freshwater fauna is particularly well represented, since it holds specimens from every species that occur in Portugal.

The Fish Collection of MUHNAC was initiated in 1984, comprising over 75.000 specimens. It incorporates representatives from 190 families, including marine, freshwater and anadromous fish collected in Portugal and in other countries from Europe, Asia, America, and Africa, in particular in Portuguese-speaking African countries. The Iberian freshwater fauna is particularly well represented, since it holds specimens from every species that occur in Portugal.

The Fish Collection of MUHNAC was initiated in 1984, comprising over 75.000 specimens. It incorporates representatives from 190 families, including marine, freshwater and anadromous fish collected in Portugal and in other countries from Europe, Asia, America, and Africa, in particular in Portuguese-speaking African countries. The Iberian freshwater fauna is particularly well represented, since it holds specimens from every species that occur in Portugal.

Inclui uma importante representação da fauna dulciaquícola ibérica, possuindo exemplares de todas as espécies existentes em Portugal.
The Fish Collection of MUHNAC was initiated in 1984, comprising over 75.000 specimens. It incorporates representatives from 190 families, including marine, freshwater and anadromous fish collected in Portugal and in other countries from Europe, Asia, America, and Africa, in particular in Portuguese-speaking African countries. The Iberian freshwater fauna is particularly well represented, since it holds specimens from every species that occur in Portugal.

Possui representantes de 190 famílias de peixes marinhos, migradores e de água doce, provenientes de Portugal e de outros países da Europa, Ásia, América e África, em particular dos países africanos de expressão portuguesa. Inclui uma importante representação da fauna dulciaquícola ibérica, possuindo exemplares de todas as espécies existentes em Portugal.
The Fish Collection of MUHNAC was initiated in 1984, comprising over 75.000 specimens. It incorporates representatives from 190 families, including marine, freshwater and anadromous fish collected in Portugal and in other countries from Europe, Asia, America, and Africa, in particular in Portuguese-speaking African countries. The Iberian freshwater fauna is particularly well represented, since it holds specimens from every species that occur in Portugal.

Inclui uma importante representação da fauna dulciaquícola ibérica, possuindo exemplares de todas as espécies existentes em Portugal.
The Fish Collection of MUHNAC was initiated in 1984, comprising over 75.000 specimens. It incorporates representatives from 190 families, including marine, freshwater and anadromous fish collected in Portugal and in other countries from Europe, Asia, America, and Africa, in particular in Portuguese-speaking African countries. The Iberian freshwater fauna is particularly well represented, since it holds specimens from every species that occur in Portugal.

Espécime de Novacula cultrata (atualmente válido como <i>Xyrichtys novacula</i>, da família Labridae) capturado na costa de Ilha de Santo Antão, Cabo Verde, por Newton. Esta amostra, depositado na Coleção de Peixes do Museu Nacional de História Natural e da Ciência (Lisboa, Portugal) com o número MB06-004738, pertence ao conjunto de XXX lotes que sobreviveu ao fogo de 1978 que destruiu integralmente as coleções zoológicas do Museu Nacional de História Natural.
Specimen of Novacula cultrata (currently valid as <i>Xyrichtys novacula</i>, from Labridae family) captured on the coast of Santo Antão Island, Cape Verde, by Newton. This sample, deposited at the Fish Collection of the Museu Nacional de História Natural e da Ciência (Lisbon, Portugal) under the numberMB06-004738, belongs to the set of XXX lots that survived the fire of 1978 that destroyed entirely the zoological collections of the National Museum of Natural History.
