A maioria dos exemplares estão conservados sob a forma tradicional de peles para estudo, tendo-se iniciado em 2008 a preparação separada das asas abertas dos exemplares. A colecção de animais naturalizados é menor embora recentemente se tenha intensificado o esforço de praparação de animais deste modo.\r\n\r\nEm 2008 foi constituída uma colecção didáctica de aves, que inclui esqueletos, penas, asas, ninhos e ovos que chegam ao museu sem qualquer indicação de origem.
